Ruaumoko Story
ANCO shake tables are named in honor of Ruaumoko, the Maori earthquake god. ANCO finds this explanation somewhat consistent with the elastic rebound theory of earthquake causation. Ruaumoko is the unborn son of Papi, the earth goddess and Raki, the sun god. According to Maori mythology, Ruaumoko’s birth struggles shook his mother, causing earthquakes. In his honor, our shake table models name begin with the letter ‘R’
